The General Assembly this afternoon endorsed the outcomes of the World Summit for the Information Society, which concluded in Tunisia last November, welcoming their strong development orientation and the progress achieved towards a multi-stakeholder approach to building a people-centred, inclusive and development-oriented information society. Consultation meeting, Action Line C8
“Cultural diversity and identity, linguistic diversity and local content”, Organized by UNESCO
In line with the Tunis Agenda for the Information Society and the recent consultation of possible Action Line Moderators/Facilitators (Geneva, 24 February 2006) assigning UNESCO a role as an interim focal point for several action lines, UNESCO is organizing a consultation on WSIS Action Line C8 “Cultural Diversity and Identity, Linguistic Diversity and Local Content”.
The aim of the meeting will be discuss the WSIS multi-stakeholder implementation process in the field of cultural diversity and identity, linguistic diversity and local content.
The meeting will take place in Geneva, on 12 May, in the UN Palais des Nations, Room XX from 10:00 to 18:00 hours. It will be open to all WSIS stakeholders interested and involved in the implementation process in the field of cultural diversity and identity, linguistic diversity and local content.
